Relativity and space astrometry

Abstract

Various relativistic effects are known to be important for interpreting astrometrical observations at the microarcsecond level. Theoretical foundations of positional observations in the frameworks of Newtonian and relativistic physics are compared. An overview of the relativistic effects is presented. Numerical values of the effects are estimated.
